This site lists thousands of records of all kinds. The emphasis is on more unusual or harder to find items on 78, 45, EP & LP. There are a few CDs but in general I don’t list items in tape or CD formats. There are plenty of other sites where you can locate such items. My intention is to provide a resource for locating collectable disc records in pre-CD formats for the discerning collector or for those simply seeking that elusive song or performance, or just wanting recordings by some of the great performers of the past. So the bulk of the recordings listed on this site are 20th century cultural artifacts from the period 1900 to the early 1990s.
For your convenience the lists of recordings have been organised according to type of carrier (78, LP, etc.) and also by genre. In order to bring smaller groups of related records together I have listed some LPs or 45s (especially vinyl reissues of earlier recordings) in a few of the 78rpm categories -- see under Children’s records, French chanson, German vocals, Blues & Gospel, etc. Other reissues of earlier recordings can be found in the Vinyl section (see the Vintage Jazz & Dance Band listings, for example). It’s quite impossible to classify so many different recordings in a way that everyone will find logical, so a bit of browsing in related categories may prove rewarding. In addition to records there are also sections on this site devoted to related or even quite unrelated items. Most of the publications in the Books section are music related, but there are also books on film, photography, radio, television, theatre and a miscellaneous selection of mostly non-fiction books including some early and unusual items. There are also listings of record catalogues, sheet music, vintage 78rpm record sleeves , a few needle tins, record cleaners, and various miscellaneous items for sale. Other sections are devoted to record label photographs or discographical data on various types of recordings which are intended purely as sources of information rather than as saleable items.
Last but not least, my wife Kitty has Kitty’s Korner where she will periodically list items she has for sale -- mainly clothes, jewellery and accessories. The lists will be updated from time to time with new items added and items that have been sold removed. However it’s not possible to keep such a large number of listings 100% up-to-date so I will have to confirm availability at the time when you ask about specific items. CONTACT DETAILS
